High School Achievers – The Journey

The 2016 High School Achievers Program was the first program conducted by YLAC! The three week program kicked off on Sunday, the 5th of June at the beautiful Zorba the Buddha on the Mehrauli Gurgaon road in Delhi.

Since its launch in 2016, the High School Achievers Program has managed to attract supremely talented and passionate students from the best schools in the country. In Delhi, we have had students from Shri Ram, Heritage, Modern School, Vasant Valley, Sanskriti, DPS, British School, Mayo and the like. In Mumbai, we have been joined by students from schools such as Oberoi International, Dhirubhai Ambani, Aditya Birla World Academy, Bombay Scottish and Jamnabai Narsee. Even students from other cities such as Jaipur, Pune, Surat, Kolkata and Bengaluru have joined our programs in Delhi and Mumbai.

The High School Achievers Program is unique in that it engages students in interesting and intriguing debates, but through a participatory and experiential pedagogy that makes learning fun. This style of teaching has become one of the main attractions of the program today!

In addition to learning through sessions and debates, the program gives students an opportunity to learn through interactions with an eclectic mix of speakers – Members of Parliament, professionals working with companies like Uber and Instagram, as well as civil society members working in areas of health, education and transportation. Students also get a chance to work on social impact projects with our partner organizations who have been doing phenomenal work in their areas of expertise. Since the launch of the first program, we have established partnerships with an array of reputed organizations such as Teach for India, Praja, Pratham, Indus Action, Breakthrough, Haiyya, Swechha and WRI, to name a few.

Each cohort of the program adds to the very strong community we are building! We continue to engage with and nurture it.
